OZ Design Furniture – Pedestrian Safety Assessment
About:
Modus was commissioned to provide advice on the safety conditions of the existing pedestrian (zebra) crossing and propose an alternative arrangement to optimise the safety of pedestrians and vehicles traversing the site.
Challenges:
The key challenges of the project comprised of identifying the risks presented by the existing pedestrian connectivity and proposing an alternative arrangement to provide safer pedestrian and vehicular movement throughout the site.
Solutions:
The project team conducted an assessment to identify the pedestrian desire lines from Marion Road and adjacent developments, as well as reviewed service and general vehicle movements throughout the site. Based on the assessment findings, the team was able to propose an alternative location for the pedestrian (zebra) crossing and install traffic control devices in the form of speed humps and signage to optimise the safety of pedestrians and vehicles traversing the site.
